Ennis V Young Munster

Gleeson League
Lee's Road
March 1st

Ennis took on Young Munster for their last game of the season today in the Gleeson League. From the early exchanges it was evident how pumped up Ennis were for the game. The scrum led by Mark Johnson, Tony White and Rory Quinlan were immense. They drove Young Munster’s pack back with each scrum and on the 5 minute received a free kick for their efforts. Quick thinking by David Ryan for a quick Tap & Go sent outhalf Eoin Vaughan under the posts. Dylan Tynan O'Mahony converted to make it 7-0 Ennis.

Ennis kept the pressure on at each ruck and turning over ball continuously. A quick break by 2nd Row John Quelly led to a pass to winger Colm Turner. He ran from inside his own half beating 4 players with his blistering speed and raced to the line, celebrating early even for Ennis’s second try. Dylan Tynan O’Mahony converted to make it 14-0.

Ennis were well on top at this stage and received a Penalty 40m out which O’Mahony slotted over with ease to make it 17-0 at half time.

The second half saw some changes but the replacements were more than capable of picking up where Ennis left off. John Ward was immense at the breakdown and Paul Finucane was stealing ball at ruck time as well as Peter O’Mahony.

Ennis finally let Young Munster in for a converted score 5 mins from time to make it 17-7 but a quick round up of the troops from Captain Conor O’Mahony kept them focused for another score with the last play of the game. From the kick off, Munster tried to cleat their lines but Conor Guilfoyle was quick to block the ball down and Captain Conor O’Mahony drove 3 players back to score at the finish.

Fantastic win from Declan Brandon’s Ennis team after a great season.

Final Score
Ennis 22-7 Young Munster
