A Christmas Message From 2021/22 President Dermot Hallahan

December 17, 2021

It would be remiss of me not to begin by reflecting on what was both a historic, unique and surreal scenario last weekend where three of our former underage players; Ethan,Conor and Tony represented Munster in a Champions Cup match.

The sight of each taking to the field reminds us all of what can be achieved with the right support structures, application, ambition and talent. Our ambition as a club has always been to build a skillset with our players such that they can compete at the highest levels to which their own abilities and application will take them.

Kudos to Nigel Moloney, Ken Butler, Eanna Lennon, Damien O'Connor, Eamon Garrihy, Dave Caroll and Liam Browne who all contributed at various times to that groups progress.

With that in mind I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate a large number of Ennis players currently involved in Munster development squads;
Aoibheann O'Loughlin, Anna Purcell, Orna Moynihan, Emma Keane at 18's and 16s level.

Similarly Luca Cleary, Jack Scahill, Seán McDonagh, Darragh Burns(Kilrush loan), Donnacha Morrissey (Kilrush loan) at 18s with both Michael Sweeney and Nicholas Roo representing Ennis at 16s.

Inevitably in listing names I'll likely have omitted others, for that please accept my apologies.

We had a very positive response to our 'Your club Your country' draw raising over €2500 in funds for the club. Our 'split the pot' draw takes place weekly and we hope you might be able to support us in this initiative by signing up by clicking here (or in the envelopes available in a few businesses around the town over the coming weeks).

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the myriad of sponsors who pay for the jerseys worn by all our teams and the development of our facilities.

On the facilities front we are optimistic of initiating works on resurfacing the 5 a side astro pitches in the Spring along with a lighting upgrade for the main pitch.

I'm always heartened to see our minis section thriving with two blitzes taking place at the club over the weekend. This is the bedrock on which we build our future players.

We can confidently report we are fielding competitive teams at every age grade.

Finally I'd like to take the opportunity to wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable Christmas with genuine gratitude and best wishes for '22.

Dermot Hallahan
